Benjamin Franklin Slater Jr was born on February 8, 1944 in La Grange, GA. He was the second oldest born of five children to Benjamin Franklin Sr. and Claudia Bell Snow Slater. Both of his parents and all of his siblings preceded him in death; one Sister Mildred Tiger Ware, three brothers Jimmy Slater, Willie Roy Slater, and Franklin Slater. Benjamin received Christ at an early age. He attended Troup County School District. He later moved Cleveland, Ohio in 1967. And was a member of Rose of Sharon Church of God, under the Pastoralship of Pastor Mack L. Hughley.
Benjamin was the founder and owner of Slater Rubbish and Hauling where he employed many.
To his first union, two children were born, Jacqueline Slater Smith (James) and Ricky Slater. To his second union, one child was born Kenya Slater. Three step children Reese, Jerrold, and Edward. He later married Lois Cage Slater and to this union no children were born, but Benjamin Jr. loved and cared for his three step children; Jacqueline, Ulysses and Brenda.
Benjamin Franklin Slater Jr. departed this life on Friday, September 7, 2018.
Benjamin Jr. was preceded in death by one special aunt, Gracie; one special nephew, Leslie Slater and one loving granddaughter, Danyale.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife, Lois Cage Slater, one very special aunt Virginia, two special nieces, Nieco Slater (Sa-Ra) and Rashidah Slater; one special sister –in-law Cythia Slater and one special brother-in-law Bennie Clark; 30 grandchildren, Daniel ,Kenniel, Lavell, Kenneth, Queen, Princess, Kenya, Journey, Rasheema, Lavale, Andrew, Dominiek, Unique, Deasha , Keonna, Brenda, Kevin, Dominic, Deshawn, Alesha, Demetrius, Ahliyah, Brittany, Shaquana, Gerald I, Gerald II, Jada and Jayden; 15 great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
