Emma Lee Brown was born January 17, 1921 to the late Ollie and
Roxie Brown Sr. . She was the oldest of 8 children. Emma accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Goodwill Baptist Church in Thomaston Alabama under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Glover.
Emma received her education at the Marengo County Training School
In Thomaston, Alabama.
Emma moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she met Manual Catlin
Jr. The two were married December 12, 1941. The marriage lasted 53 years until his death July 16,1995. The couple moved to Cleveland, OH in 1948. They made True Vine Baptist Church their new church home under the pastorage of Rev. S.L. Paul. Years later Emma united with Grace Missionary Baptist church under the patorage of Rev. Walter Boykins Sr.
Emma served in different ministries. She was a Deaconess, member of the Nurses Guild, VBS, and sung in the Combined Chorus.
Emma lived a good life. She traveled to may places such as Africa, Virgin Islands, Israel, and Europe. Emma loved working in her yard and was even recognized for best yard of the year by the city of Cleveland. Emma had a special affection for children and the elderly. Emma was a perfectionist which was evidenced by everything she did.
Emma began her new life on August 20,2018
Emma was proceeded in death by her parents Ollie and Roxie Brown Sr., her husband Manual Catlin Jr., her sister Nannie Bell Rutledge, her brothers, Warren Brown, Ollie Brown Jr., and James Brown Sr.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory a devoted niece Santha(Keith) whom she considered a daughter, devoted niece and nephew Roxie and John, one brother Abraham Brown(Donna),
Two sisters Teena Brown and Irene Lewis, one sister in law Mary Hinton, one devoted friend
Estee Perry and other relatives.
