Mattie Louise Eafford was born September 18, 1944 to the late J. G. and Druella Franklin in Blakely, Georgia. She was the eighth of eleven children. "Mattie graduated from Washington High School in Blakely, Georgia in 1962.
Mattie was a devoted wife and mother who loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed beautifying her yard with landscaping projects as well as walking 2-3 miles a day. Mattie worked as a salesperson at Lane Bryant at Randall Park Mall in Warrensville Heights and the Pavilion Shopping Center in Beachwood for nearly 25 years. She was actively" involved in the 151st Street Club and Andrew J. Rickoff Elementary. School's PTA for years.
Mattie dedicated her life to Christ at a young age. She attended The Word Church and New Community Bible Fellowship. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
In 1963, "Mattie married James Eafford and five daughters were born from this union. In December, 1968, Mattie moved to Cleveland, Ohio to be with her husband. She resided at their residence on 151st and Hampstead until 2012. Mattie and James divorced in 1987 but remained close friends.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memories: five daughters, Tawana Simmons (Alien), Beverly Abdellatif (Amr Mohamed) of Egypt, Brenda Eafford, Fellsa Eafford, and Stephanie Eafford; two brothers, Nathaniel Franklin (Marjorie) of Albany, Georgia, and John Franklin of Vauxhall, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Ashley Hall, Larry Hall, Jr., Ta-Re-I Franklin, Damyyan Eafford, and Angelina lynch; a cousin, Pat Difrarrco (Robert), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
