Willie Lee Gardner Sr was born Feb.17, 1919 in Fort Gaines, Georgia to the
late Idella White-Gardner and Eunice Gardner.
Willie was the eldest of 7 children and they were a loving family. 6 siblings
precede him in death. Lucy Mae Patmon, Mattie Lue Davis, Lizzie Mae Cooper,
Jimmy Lee Gardner, William Gardner and Virgil Gardner. Willie was raised in the
church and worked various jobs as a young man. That gave him very strong work
ethics to prepare him for being an entrepreneur.
Willie met his one true love of 60 years Mittie Lee Black of Miami, FI. in
1937(she preceded him in death). They were married in 1941 and to this union 9
children were born. (2 Sons' preceded him in death) Willie Jr and, Sigges Bee Sr.
Willie enlisted in the army in 1941 until 1943 to serve his country and take care of
his family. While in the army he picked up a trade that would feed his family for life.
Willie learned how to cut hair and obtained his license, then eventually became a
business owner. They relocated to Cleveland, Ohio In 1944. Willie owned the
Folsom Ave Barber Shop until he retired in 1985. Willie Loved life and his family. He
enjoyed life to the fullest and, was blessed all the while.
Willie was called by the Lord on June 22, 2019 to rest in eternal peace. He
leaves to cherish his precious memories: His 5 sons: Clifford( Geneva), Adolphus,
Unice, Freddie, Bradford (Carole) ( all of Cleveland Ohio). 2 daughters: Arletha Mc
Pherson (Alpha) of Washington D.C., Jerline ( of California). 46 grandchildren, 62
great grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a Host of Nieces, Nephews Family
