Arlene "DEE DEE" (Smith) Carswell

Arlene B. Carswell (Nee:Smith) was born on March 15, 1934 to the late Clarence and Savilla Smith in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the youngest of Six Children: Mary, Bob, Jean, Inez, Delores and then came Arlene.

Arlene was educated in the Cleveland Public School System where she graduated from High School earning her high school diploma.

Later on in life, she met and married John Carswell Sr., and from this union four children were born. Jennifer (Poochie) , John Jr., Jervon and Jeffrey.

Arlene began working for G.A.C, where she worked until her retirement in 1998. Then she worked for the Cleveland Board of Elections until her retirement in 2011.

Arlene aka “DEE DEE” was a lover of life, she loved spending time with her sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arlene loved to party and dance, you would often find her at the center of the dance floor at every function she was able to attend. Those who knew her, could only love her in every way possible.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Mary Weaver, Robert Smith, Jean Woodruff, Inez Lescook, and Delores Randle, her children: Jennifer (Poochie) Glasgow, John H. Carswell Jr. , her grandchildren: Jeree T. , Jennifer Catherine Carswell, and Janice Carswell.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Jervon and Jeffrey. Her Grandchildren: Ayana, John III, Joshua, Jacob (Scooter), one great grandchild; Claire. And host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
