Arthur's Journey
Arthur John Savage, affectionately referred to by his family as "Pebbie", passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the age of 70 after a brave battle with kidney disease.
Arthur was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2, 1950 to Reverend Arthur Savage, Sr. and Minnetta Savage. Being the son of a minister, Arthur developed a personal relationship with God. At an early age Arthur discovered his interest in music and he would often sit with his uncle Joe and play his guitar. Arthur’s kind and friendly disposition earned him the nickname of “Smiley” by his classmates and friends. He graduated from Glenville High School in 1968. After graduating, he went on to work for Cuyahoga County for over 30 years including 20 years at the Juvenile Detention Center.
When Arthur retired in 2012 he had more time to dedicate to his hobbies. In his younger years he was known for being on the cutting edge of technology and he always had the latest electronic devices and gadgets. He loved music and he had an extensive record collection.
While Arthur never married, he lived a full and happy life and was always there to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He took great joy in giving gifts and toys to the children in his family.
Arthur was a very loving and devoted son to his mother Minnetta until she preceded him in death in 2017. He was also predeceased by his father Arthur, Sr. in 1977 and his brother Carl Sims, Sr. in 2020.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memory his sister Linda Savage, sister-in-law Shirley Sims, nieces Carla Sims , Catrice Sims and Manisha Spivey, nephew Carl Sims, Jr., 4 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
