Betty’s Journey
Betty Ann Long, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on February 4, 2025, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, at the venerable age of 84. Born on June 23, 1940, in Brevard, North Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of James and Louise Camp, who both preceded her in death after seeking a better life in Cleveland, Ohio.
Betty's life was a testament to enduring love and dedication. She met the love of her life, Willis P. Long, in Ohio, and from their loving union, eight sons were born: Dickey, Derek, Loyde (deceased), Jeffery, Marvin, Johnny, Willis Jr., and Harold. Her role as a mother and homemaker was her most treasured calling, and she embraced it with every fiber of her being. Betty was also a resilient cancer survivor, reflecting her indomitable spirit and strength.
Betty's interests were simple yet profound. She found immense joy in sitting on her porch, where she would bask in the serenity of nature and the companionship of her family and friends. Cooking was another passion, as she delighted in preparing meals that would bring everyone together. Fishing provided her with moments of tranquility and reflection, while her love for flowers was evident in the vibrant blooms that adorned her garden, a symbol of her care and attention to the beauty in life.
The year 2017 marked the beginning of a challenging period for Betty, as she became ill after a long and valiant battle with her health.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and nurturing in her sons, a lineage further enriched by 40 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by a host of other relatives and friends, who were all touched by her generosity and warmth. Betty's impact on their lives is immeasurable, and she will be profoundly missed by all.
Betty Ann Long's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the memories she created, the love she shared, and the lives she touched will resonate eternally. Her spirit, like the flowers she so adored, will continue to bloom in the hearts of her loved ones. Betty will be truly missed, but her memory will be cherished forever, a reminder of a life well-lived and a heart that was always full.
