Carrie’s Story
Mother Carrie (Norfleet) Morrow, daughter of Mahalie (Hood) (Norfleet) Author, was born on June 4, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama, and peacefully departed this life on November 20, 2025, at the age of 94.
Carrie received her high school diploma in Birmingham, Alabama. She worked faithfully as a cleaner at Lakewood Hospital until her retirement. She took great pride in doing her work with excellence, integrity, and a spirit of gratitude. Her coworkers knew her as dependable, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Mother Carrie was a devoted and faithful member of New Jerusalem under the leadership of the late Pastor Bobby C. Ward and the present pastor, Pastor A. Charles Ligon. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and a true woman of prayer. She loved her church and served however she could—encouraging others, supporting the ministry, and standing in the gap for her family and community.
Carrie Morrow was truly a pillar of her community. Though she did not have much in material things, she possessed a rich and generous spirit. Her home was known as a place of comfort and welcome. She fed anyone who walked through her doors, making sure no one left hungry—whether they needed a hot meal, a kind word, a place to rest, or a listening ear. Her wisdom, humor, and gentle strength touched every generation.
She loved her family deeply, always striving to keep them connected, encouraged, and covered in prayer. She was the glue that held many hearts together and the safe place so many turned to.
Carrie was preceded in death by her mother, Mahalie Author; her beloved husband, Edward Morrow; her brother, Lovell Norfleet; and her sons, Ronnie Morrow and David Morrow.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Willie, Donald, Cynthia (Thomas Perry), Connie, Debra, Carolyn (Keith McIntyre), and Dwayne, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
Her life was a living example of kindness, humility, service, and steadfast faith. Though she will be dearly missed, her legacy of love, generosity, and God-fearing strength will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
