Cleola Headley Obituary

Cleola Suber Headley was born on February 16, 1942 and departed this earthly life on September4, 2021. Cleola accepted Christ at an early age. Cleola was born and raised in Pomaria, South Carolina, then moved to Philadelphia for a short time before moving to Cleveland, Ohio where she spent the rest of her years.

A pillar of the Cleveland community, Cleola worked as beautician and owner of Headley’s Salon for more than 40 years. An avid reader and lover of crossword puzzles, she dedicated her time whenever possible to the love of and care for her family and her Church.

Cleola was one of 17 founding members of Lake Galilee Baptist Church in 1979 while the church met in local homes and continued to do so once the church opened at 3333 East 93rd Street in 1980. She served as President of the choir, on the Kitchen committee, as a Women’s Day speaker, led Sunday School & Bible Study, and served as Lake Galilee’s Church Treasurer for over 20 years (until her decline).

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Cleve Albert & Lizzie Suber, her mother-in-law Lentine Thomas and her father-in-law Ruben Headley, her brothers Norman Lee Suber, Ike Lewis Suber and Epps Albert Suber and one brother-in-law Doug Sheppy of Jamaica.

 

Cleola leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband of 38yrs Mr. Herman Headley of the home, her children Tabitha Means of the home, Phyllix Stovall (Ray) of Streetsboro, Ohio, Zachary Means (Jonkia) of Rocky Mount, NC., Frederick Means (Tammie) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and Stacyanne Headley of Washington, DC.

Three sisters are left to cherish her memories: Cora Garmany of Pomaria, SC, Lizzie V. Suber of Pomaria, SC and Patricia Matthews (Willie) of Greenwood, SC. Three brothers: Talton Maybin of Pomaria, SC, Troy Suber (Fannie) of Pomaria, SC and  Sam Suber of Pomaria, SC. Nine sister-in-laws: Lizzie Suber of Pomaria, SC, Barbara Suber of Pomaria, SC, Doris Suber of Columbia, SC, Gene Lawrence, Audrey King, Carmen Montague, Yvonne Roach, Audrey Thomas and Janet Stephen of Jamaica and one brother-in-law: Louie Sheppy of Jamaica.

 

Grandchildren: Candice Lawrence, Dr. Brittany Means Lee (DeMarko), Zachary Means II (Sharline), Naja Means, Jada Means, Paisley Stovall, Onesemah Stovall, Deontae’ Means, Tatiana Means, Frederick Means Jr., Cheyenne Wardrick, Camille Anthony (Alex), Jadavian Richardson and Kayla Richardson

Great Grandchildren: Camron, Amiyah, Zachary III, Aasir, Cayley, Carter, Addison, Allisyn, Jahron, Charles, Chimere, King, Braelynn and Chloe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
