Delores "Diane" Griffin, cherished matriarch, and a steadfast pillar of her community passed away on May 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 78, after a valiant battle with cancer.
A beacon of courage, joy, and light, born on July 24, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio. Diane's life was a testament to her strength and the abiding love she had for her family and friends. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Open Door Missionary Baptist Church on March 10, 1996. Diane was a proud graduate of East High School in August 1965, and she furthered her education by pursuing studies in nursing reflecting her innate desire to care for others. Her career paths were as diverse as her interests. Diane's work ethic and pride she took in her contributions were evident to all who worked alongside her at the Ford Motor Company, the Visiting Nurses’ Association, and L'Oréal. She brought a sense of dedication and excellence leaving a lasting impression on her colleagues and those she served until her retirement from L'Oréal.
After retirement, her hands were rarely still. She relished in preparing meals and hosting holiday gatherings for her family, transforming each event into a memory to be treasured. Diane's culinary skills were legendary, especially her mac 'n cheese, banana pudding, and famous peach cobbler. Holidays were made memorable with her at the helm, entertaining and bringing warmth to every gathering. Her love for cooking was only matched by card playing, and her passion for crocheting. She created countless crocheted hats for the homeless, as well as gifts for her family, spreading her care and compassion through each thoughtful stitch. Her laughter was infectious, and her trusted counsel and wisdom sought after. Her presence was a comfort and her resilience an inspiration. Diane faced life's challenges with a sense of optimism, poise, and grace that uplifted everyone around her.
She loved to shop for fabulous finds that included a plethora of unique accessories to enhance her stylish wardrobe. Her favorite accessories included vintage brooches, silk scarves, beaded handbags, and chic shoes. She had a special love for antiques and extraordinary collectibles. As the epitome of humility and sophistication, she was admired by many. Diane's legacy will live on through the lives she touched with kindness, passion, and sincerity. The memories she created will continue to be celebrated by all who knew her. Delores "Diane" Griffin's story was built on the enduring BOND of family. Her familial ties were a source of immense joy, and she nurtured each relationship with tenderness and unconditional love. She was also a dependable, loyal friend, and trusted confidant.
As we bid farewell to Diane, we reflect on a life well-lived. Her character, generosity, and unwavering positivity, will continuously INSPIRE her loved ones and friends. Although her journey on earth has been completed, her spirit remains a guiding light to all. Rest in peace, Diane, knowing you have left an indelible mark on the world.

She was a beloved grandmother to Kacee Key-Henderson, Chelsey A. Frizzell [Stefon] and Kavon Key-Henderson [Jashanay].
A beloved great grandmother to Khylee Key-Henderson and Esko Julian.
Diane was also a devoted sister to Edna Bernice Woolridge, Eddie J Griffin Jr., [Patty] Johnny Griffin, Marie Treadwell, and Joyce Etta Griffin. She was predeceased by her parents, Eddie J. Sr and Bernice Griffin. Diane's light will continue to shine through all of her loved ones including her nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, extended family, and friends, who will fondly remember her always and forever.
