Von’s Story

Devonte L. Eason, affectionately known as Von to his family and friends, was a beacon of intelligence, love, and generosity. Born on March 24, 2000, in Cleveland, Ohio, Von grew up to be a man of strong faith and vibrant spirit. His journey on Earth came to a peaceful close on June 30, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family.

Von was a cherished son of Vernice Eason and Charlie D. Rogers. He was a brother who shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings Allen Eason III, Chanel Rogers, Sade Rogers, Ciara Roger, Denzel Rogers, and Trayvon Thompson. His extended family, including Emmanuel West, Carol Curry, Chrissy Stewart, Shawn (Cap), Monna Randall, Glen Randall, Eula Eason, and Honesty Eason, will remember him as a source of joy and inspiration. Von's warmth and kindness also touched a host of family members and many friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.

A proud alumnus of Cleveland Heights City Schools, Von's academic journey was marked by his sharp intellect and a natural curiosity that endeared him to his teachers and peers alike. His thirst for knowledge and his commitment to excellence were evident in all his endeavors.

Von's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life. It guided his actions and provided him with strength and solace. His beliefs were reflected in the way he lived, always striving to embody the principles of love and service to others.

An avid sports enthusiast, Von's passion for football, basketball, and wrestling was more than just a pastime. It was a way for him to channel his energy, discipline, and teamwork—traits that he carried into every aspect of his life. On the field and the court, he was known for his competitive spirit and his ability to elevate the game of those around him.

Those who knew Von would describe him as a loving soul who never hesitated to extend a helping hand. His generosity knew no bounds, and he often went out of his way to support those in need, whether through mentorship, friendship, or simply a listening ear.

As we bid farewell to Devonte L. Eason, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. His memory will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. While we mourn his departure from this world, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the love he shared and the lives he touched. Von's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place, one act of generosity at a time.
