Dorothy L. Smith

Dorothy Lorine Smith was born May 17, 1938 in Pinson, TN then relocated to Lorain, Ohio.  She and her husband Deacon Sammy Lee Smith made a beautiful life for their family.  

She was a longtime member of Original Glorious Apostolic Church, founding member of True Praise and Deliverance Ministry, a member of Grace Cathedral Ministries, and National Mother to the Grace Cathedral Fellowship. Mother Dorothy worked at Ford Motor Company in Avon, UAW Local 2000 for 30 years. Affectionately called Momma Dorothy, she leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Sammy C. Smith and David A. Smith of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Sherry Holt of Louisville, KY and Donna (Kurt) Simmons of Lorain, OH; two brothers, Clarence (Barbara) Ballard, William C. (Jackie) Ballard of Lorain, OH; five sisters, Sadie (James) Smith of Humboldt, TN, Frances (Tom) Glinsey of Lorain, OH, Wanda Faye (Johnnie) Ross of Murfreesboro, TN, Mary Matthews and Darlene (James) Jones of Lorain, OH; twelve grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.   She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Deacon Sammy L. Smith, daughter Carolyn V. Fowler, parents Clarence and Lorine Ballard, sister Shirley Johnson, and two brothers Frank and Ray Ballard.  

Services will be Friday, February 8, 2019 calling hour 10 to 12 Noon.  Services begin at 12 Noon, at Faith Ministries Christian Center, 1306 Euclid Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.  Apostle Sammy C. Smith, eulogist.  Services entrusted to Gaines Funeral Home, 5386 Lee Road, Maple Heights, Ohio.
