Dorothy Mae Taylor, daughter of Joe Anna Buchanan(deceased) step father, Eddie Buchanan , was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on Friday, September 9, 1938. She is the oldest of seven siblings. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1956. Dorothy moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Cleveland, Ohio after graduating from high school to live with her aunt Charlie Mae Fletcher.
Dorothy worked at Metropolitan General Hospital and University Hospitals before retiring in 2005.
She always had a fear of driving, therefore, she never learned to drive. As a testament to her loyal and dedicated nature, she took public transportation to and from work everyday - never missing a day of work. She was able to achieve her life time goal of home ownership. Dorothy purchased her first home in 1974 on Maplerow in Garfield Heights, Ohio where she lived for 22 years.
Dorothy was focused and no nonsense, but loved by everyone. She enjoyed cooking and everyone love her cooking. She enjoyed playing and listening to music. She also cherished being a Grandmother.
Dorothy transitioned this life on Oct 5, 2020. Left to celebrate her life are 3 children Anise Houston (Carl), Tammy, Jeffery (Tina), Brothers; Bill Buchanan, Frank Buchanan, Phillip Buchanan(deceased); sisters; Gloria Love(deceased), Joann Buchanan. 2 Grandchildren (C.J.); ( Lauren); 1 Great Grandchild(Callie). From your children:
Your arms were always open when we needed a hug.
Your heart understood when we needed a friend.
Perhaps
Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair;
Perhaps you sent beautiful flowers,
If so, we saw them there.
Perhaps you sent or spoke kind words
As any friend could say;
Perhaps you were not there at all
Just a thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console the heart.
We thank you so much, whatever the part.
