Robert’s Journey
Elder Robert McKinley Yucas, known affectionately as Robert (or Bobby), was a beacon of light and strength, whose journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on December 25, 2025, in his hometown Cleveland, Ohio. Born on October 19, 1959, Robert's life was a testament to unwavering faith, love, and adventure. His departure from this world was due to cancer, but his spirit remains undiminished in the hearts of those he touched.
Robert's formative years were spent within the nurturing embrace of the East Cleveland school system, after which he furthered his education at Maranatha Bible College and Institute and The Moody Bible Institute. His commitment to lifelong learning was paralleled only by his dedication to service, as evidenced by his proud tenure in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1982, where he reached the rank of Corporal. His personal motto, "Once a Marine, always a Marine," encapsulated the enduring loyalty and discipline that defined his character.
His professional life was marked by his skilled craftsmanship as a welder and his reliability as a driver. Robert's work was never just a job; it was a ministry. He viewed every encounter as an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, bringing comfort and hope to veterans as he transported them with a kind word and a smile. Even after retiring in 2024, his vocational legacy continued to resonate through the countless lives he had impacted.
Robert's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. It was through his study and preaching of the Word of God that he found his true calling. He served his church with passion and humility, embodying the love of Christ in every action. His joy in sharing the Gospel was as infectious as it was sincere, guiding many toward a path of spiritual fulfillment and purpose.
Family was the heart of Robert's world. He leaves behind his beloved wife Deborah A. Yucas, who stood by him as a pillar of support and love. Though preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Yucas, his legacy is carried on by his mother Laura A. Yucas, his sister Laura A. Yucas, and his cherished daughters Nakia Yucas (Tony Lusane) and Diamond Yucas, as well as his bonus daughters Charisse N. Gage and Tiffany L. Aikens (D'Angelo). Their collective memories will forever be brightened by his guiding light.
Robert's zest for life was evident in his many interests. He was not only an accomplished tennis player but also a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of grilling and fellowship. In retirement, he embraced the call of the open water through boating and began to explore the soulful melodies of the saxophone, adding rhythm and harmony to his already rich life.
Described as faith-filled, loving, and adventurous, Robert's essence can be captured in the inspiring words of Helen Keller: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." He lived by this creed, embracing each day as a gift to be cherished, a mystery to be embraced, and an adventure to be lived.
Elder Robert McKinley Yucas' story does not end with his passing, for his legacy is eternal. It lives on in the lives he touched, the faith he shared, and the love he spread. He now rests in the glory of the Lord he so fervently served, leaving us with a blueprint for a life well-lived and a faith well-kept. We celebrate Robert's journey to his heavenly home, knowing that his spirit continues to guide us from above.
