Obituary
Emma Kate Cone Thrower was born on May 10, 1927 in Quachita County, Arkansas. Her parents were Llewellen and Lula Elliott Cone. Emma had four siblings: Esther, Hattie B, Leon and Lesley.
She attended Camden, Arkansas schools and received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas AM and N at Pine Bluff. She taught school in Camden and later in Cleveland, Ohio. She married the late Howard Thrower on Aug 5, 1950 and moved to Cleveland in 1952. Their union produced two daughters, Dorcel Denise and Daphne Kay.
Emma also worked at the Garment Factory and retired from Value City Department Store. She was a volunteer cafeteria worker at her children’s school, a girl scout chaperone and a Day Care Grandmother.
She is an alumni member of the Cleveland Chapter of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Emma loves to travel and was a member of the Sophisticated Ladies and the Adventurers travel clubs. She also traveled with her daughters to Canada (Montreal, Toronto), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo) and Cabo Mexico.
She has been a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd since the mid-1960s serving on the Altar Guild, Care Committee, the Choir and Women’s Fellowship. Also, a member of St. Philip Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio in her later years.
She leaves her memories with her daughters: Dorcel Thrower Dowdell and Daphne Thrower Howard (husband AhavYah Howard); granddaughters, Victoria Moore (husband Devin Moore) and Jennine Daniel; great grandchildren, Alexander, Jaiden, Devin Jr. and Cornelius many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
