Ethel Perry Obituary

Edy’s Journey

Ethel “Edy” Perry (Thomas), of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on May 26, 2025. She was only 74 years old.  There is a void in the hearts of her family and friends who are deeply saddened by her sudden death.

Edy was a long-time dedicated member of Believer’s Bible Church. She was loved and admired by the congregation and clergy alike. She was an extremely talented seamstress with clients from all walks of life; said to be “magnificent with that machine.” Edy served as a civil servant volunteering her time as a poll worker.

Edy positively impacted anyone who had the privilege to meet her, from family to strangers; she was adored. She always made a profound impact in the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. From her infectious smile to her radiating voice, people noticed her and were positively affected by her presence.  Her eyes spoke words that her voice never had to. Everyone who ever met her was spoiled to have known a strong, independent woman who offered an abundance of knowledge, experience and compassion into every interaction.

Edy was survived by her loving son Carlos (Sean Waters) Thomas (Shari); grandchildren Brandon Kennelly, Dimisha Burd (Mark), Brittany Waters (William), Cameron Waters, Jonathan Perry (TeeUna), Chelsey Grantz (Sheena), Alex Mays, Amanda Waters (Kody); great-grandchildren Carmyne, Jonathan, Cohen, Skylar, Heaven, Liam, D’ Angelo, Claire, Samuel, Leon and Thyri; siblings Lucille Hall, Frank Thomas (Annie), Valerie Robins, Erma Shaker, Barbara Greg, Vanessa Lewis (Richard), Michelle Thomas (Otto), Kathy Pauletta; sister-n-law Jackie Perry; and a special bond with friends Tammy Thomas and Nece Vaughn. In addition to those aforementioned, Edy was blessed to still have many more Aunts, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who loved her very much.

Edy was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Perry, Sr.; parents O.B. Thomas, Jr. and Josie Lee (Janie Burse) Thomas; daughter Ebony Perry; siblings Arlene Wyatt and Annette Edward; and other extended family whom she’s reuniting with in Heaven.
