Obituary for Ms. Fannie Mae Coleman
Ms. Fannie Mae Coleman of Maple Heights, OH passed away on March 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 29, 2025 at 10:30AM at Gaines Memorial Chapel located at 5386 Lee Road, Maple Heights, OH with Pastor Johnny Twymon officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park (Bedford Heights, OH).
Ms. Coleman was born to A. B. Rhodes and Eula Mae Stafford in Fausetowne, GA in 1941 and was educated in the public schools of Decatur County. She graduated from Donalsonville High School in 1961 and moved to Cleveland, OH in 1963 where she resided for over 60 years. Ms. Coleman married Jesse Coleman in 1964 and their union lasted until 1970. She worked various occupations including as a Nurse’s Assistant from 1969 to 1979 as well as a Pharmacy Tech from 1982 to 1995. Ms. Coleman loved spending time with family and friends, as well as gardening, traveling, and working with her hands. She was hardworking, adventurous, and fun to be around.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, A. B. Rhodes and Eula Mae Stafford; sisters, Gladys Tate, Shirley Cooper, and Vera Anderson; brothers, Charles Rhodes, Allen Rhodes, and K.C. Henderson; ex-husband, Jesse Coleman; and friend Walter Willis.
Ms. Coleman leaves to cherish her memory: son, Jesse Coleman Jr.; nieces, Delois (Sam) Hemingway, Peggy Williams, Michelle Tate, and Stephanie Tate; nephews, Stanley Tate, Alec (Wanda) Muhammad, Lorenzo (Cathy) Rhodes, Antonio Rhodes, Arenza Rhodes, Allen Rhodes; great nieces, Jecoliah (Cory) Perkins, Jayla Ballard, and Teanna Hemmingway; cousins, Henry Jackson, Shirley Stafford and Greg Smart; sisters-in-law, Bridgette Johnson, Pam Gillmette, and Kelly Gillmette; close friends, Betty Ross, Jo Francis Slaughter, Monica Keys, Burt Phillips, Milfred Asquew, Gwen Joyner, Phyllis Johnson, Mattie Little, Phyllis Dumas, Wilmenia Coleman, and Harrison and a host of other friends, relatives and neighbors.
The visitation will be held on Friday March 28, 2025 at Gaines Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
