Frank Sims Obituary

Frank’s Journey

Frank Sims, a cherished soul known affectionately as Frank, departed from this world on August 26, 2025, at the age of 88, in Cleveland, Ohio, due to natural causes. Born on January 8, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late John H. Sims Sr. and Lorraine Mobly, and brother to John Jr., George, William, Donald, Ernestine, and Lorraine, all of whom preceded him in death, leaving only his sister Norma to cherish his memory.

Frank was a man of unwavering spirit, whose journey through life was marked with joy, resilience, and the love of his family. He was a devoted father to Nobie, Sheila (married to Nathan), Beverly (married to Nepoleon), Frank (married to Norma), and Frank-Frank (engaged to Julia). His legacy extends through a lineage of 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a spark of his generous spirit. Frank's life was also blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Aunt Martha, all of whom felt the warmth of his friendly demeanor.

Educated in the Philadelphia public schools, Frank carried with him a lifelong love of learning and a keen intellect, especially when it came to numbers. His career was as diverse and hardworking as the man himself, including roles as a fruit and vegetable vendor, a fish vendor, and later, a forklift operator at the Concrete Pipe Company and the Budd Company. He was a man known for his strong work ethic and his ability to make the most of every opportunity.

Frank's spiritual beliefs were the cornerstone of his life, guiding him with an inner light that shone brightly for all to see. He was a member of the Unity Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He was a man who lived his faith through his actions, embodying the principles of love and generosity in everything he did. His interests were as vibrant as his personality; he was an exceptional dancer, a sharp dresser, a skilled card player, and a man who delighted in working with numbers.

The words that best describe Frank are loving, friendly, and generous. He was a man who gave freely of himself and his resources, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His presence could light up a room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

As we remember Frank, we are reminded of his favorite quote: "The shorter the visit, the longer the friendship." Frank lived this truth daily, dedicating himself to the well-being of his family and community.

Frank Sims's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the beauty of a life well-lived. As we say farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us, and his memory will forever be a beacon of love and kindness in our hearts. In the words of Frank “The shorter the visit, the longer the friendship.”
