John Eric Lane Jr. (53) was born the oldest of three children on May 2, 1967, to the union of John and Mattie Lane in Cleveland, Ohio. John was raised in the church and baptized at an early age at East Mount Zion Baptist Church under the late Rev. Dr. A. Charles Bowie. As a young man, John served his church as a leader in youth groups. He was the President of a group called Young David’s at his church East Mt. Zion Baptist Church, he was also the President of the City and the State Young David’s, and during that time, he went to represent his country at the Baptist World Alliance.
John attended Cleveland Metropolitan Schools District, where he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1985. After high school, he worked various jobs, eventually finding his niche in the health care field. John has always had a love for music and liked to DJ and produce music. He had a love for his family and would always say, “We’re Lanes, We’re Warriors, and We Don’t Quit!”. John always wanted to maintain peace with the family and give advice. John will be missed for being the life of the party, his sense of humor, and the phone calls to check up on those he loved and cared about dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Tameka and daughter Mae’Oni. His sons David Lamont Snyder (Jackie) and Eric Maurice Lane (Crystal), His parents John and Mattie Lane, Siblings: Sharon Lane-Bell (Carlos), Phillip Lane Sr. (Gervia). His nieces, Jasmine, Schelby (Kim), Caitlin, and nephews Phillip Jr. and Noah. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. John Eric Lane, we'll miss you! The Memorial Service will be Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the Gaines Funeral Home, 5386 Lee Road, Maple Heights, Ohio. Wake at 4:30 PM and Memorial Service at 5:00 PM.
