Joseph Tyus

On June 9, 2026, Joseph Tyus was called from labor to reward, leaving behind legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. Joe was born on January 11, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Deacon Dan Tyus and Bessie Tyus. Joe was the eldest of four children. He confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized as a youth at Nazarene Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Edward Tyus.

Educated in the Cleveland Public School system, Joe was a proud graduate of East Technical High School. Joe married twice during his lifetime and from his first union he had two sons.

Joe possessed a remarkable talent and passion for working on cars. As an exceptionally skilled auto body mechanic, he turned his passion into a lifelong career. For many years, he worked side-by-side with his father, Dan, and his brother, Anthony, at Jim Marsh Ford. He later brought his expertise to Crestmont Cadillac, where he dedicated many years of service until his well-deserved retirement.

Known for his gentle spirit, Joe had a quiet strength and a deep, unwavering love for his family and friends. He was always happiest when surrounded by those he cared about.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved father, Deacon Dan Tyus, in 2010.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving mother, Bessie Tyus, two sons, Joseph Tyus II and Eric Tyus (Monica), His three siblings, Daniel Tyus, Anthony Tyus, and his loving, devoted sister, Diane Tyus, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends
