Juanita Canada was born on January 7th, 1946 in Greene County Alabama. She was the last child born to her loving parents, Annie and Charlie Canada. Juanita was born into a family with several siblings, including Vernon (Magnolia), Charlie (Louisa), Clifton, Annie Jean, and Mary. She came to know the Lord at an early age, joining New Light Baptist Church in her childhood. Juanita often spoke fondly of her childhood, sharing stories of her youth, while coming of age in rural Alabama with her family and friends.
She excelled as a student and graduated from Greene County Training School at the age of 16. Moving to Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1970's, Juanita was a homemaker for several years before going back into the workforce.
She was the loving mother of four, Tamara (Craig), William, Raquel, and James III., always being extremely nurturing and supportive to each of her children. Juanita decided to resume working outside of her home, and became a dedicated, hardworking employee with Stouffers (Nestle) for many years before retiring. Juanita cared about the well-being of others and found importance in being of service to other people. She served as a co-director of a youth choir for several years. Juanita was also very civic-minded and enjoyed being a member of a local Democratic club, as well as volunteering at the polls on Election Day for many years. In her later years, Juanita took great pleasure in working in her yard and cultivating her garden, sharing fresh foods with her loved ones. She also enjoyed traveling, sight-seeing, and meeting people from all walks of life. She was known to strike up a hearty conversation with a stranger, as if they'd been friends for years. Juanita was a multifaceted woman with many demanding roles that she maneuvered with dignity, grace and poise. Her most cherished role was that of being a grandmother to Michael (deceased), William III (deceased), Christopher, and Myles, and great-grandmother to Milan, William IV, and Christopher.
She took immense pride and happiness in her family, and never hesitated to speak positively about her loved ones. Juanita has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a host of wonderful friends and family that mourn her passing and celebrate her magnificent life and homegoing.
