Leo Minter was born in Cleveland, Ohio November 21st, 1932 to Homer Minter and Alphine Doster. They both preceded him in death. He accepted Christ at an early age. He united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Muriel Victoria Harper September 27, 1952.
He attended Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament and graduated from Benedictine High School in 1952. Fondly known as “Choo-Choo”, he left a legacy at Benedictine where he ran track and was the first African American to play Varsity football. In 2000 he was inducted into Benedictine’s Hall of Fame. He was also an outstanding boxer for the Cleveland Golden Gloves. In addition to his athletic achievements, he served in the United States Navy and he was a coach and mentor for many young kids. He was a proud 4th degree Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5106. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, and traveler. After officially retiring from Singer Steel where he served as a Crain Operator for over 40 years, he returned to work as an Industrial Warehouse Manager at WHK company until his health began to fail him. He touched everyone he came into contact with and treated everyone as family.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 67 years Muriel Victoria; children: Evangeline (Linwood), Michael Sr. (Linda), and Constance (Ernest Sr); Grandchildren: Ernest Jr. (Ashley), Michael Jr. (Rameka), Calli, Leo, Jolena, and Demetrius (Summer), Terry, Tangela, Alexander, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
