Obituary for Lula Mae Jett
Lula Mae Jett was born on July 16, 1938, in Dallas County, Alabama, to the late Earnest and Margaret King. She was the eighth of fifteen children, ten of whom preceded her in death.
At an early age, Lula accepted Christ and was a devoted member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Sardis, Alabama. She later attended Shiloh High School. After relocating to Cleveland, Ohio, she continued her faith journey and became a dedicated member of Harvest Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Nurses Guild.
Lula was united in marriage to Roscoe Jett.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Jennifer Alridge of Birmingham, Alabama; Kenneth Jett of Atlanta, Georgia; Charles King of Cleveland, Ohio (formerly married to Carmencita, mother of his children; and Margaret, his current wife); Michael King (Karen), Gloria Young, Wanda Jett, all of Cleveland, Ohio; and Kevin Jett (Daphne) of Columbus, Ohio.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Bessie Mae Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; Georgia Mae Givans of Detroit, Michigan; Julia King, Willis King, and Melvin King, all of Birmingham, Alabama.
Lula’s legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Alana King, Trevor King, Brittany Young, Camille Jett, and Kevin Jett Jr.; six great-grandchildren: Jaelon, Ananda, Kartiere, Brielle, Brooklynn, and Danaji; and one great-great-grandson, Ny’Mir.
Lula dedicated many years of service working in private household management before retiring. She had a deep love for the Lord and was an avid reader of her Bible and other books. She was especially known for her exceptional culinary and baking skills, often sharing her gifts with others. Lula also had a green thumb, nurturing beautiful plants both inside her home and in her garden.
Above all, Lula was a servant at heart. She was a constant source of support to her family and loved ones. To know her was to be cared for—because in her eyes, friends were family. Serving others was not only her calling, but a purpose she fulfilled faithfully according to God’s will.
She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished loved ones who will forever honor her memory.
