*Due to COVID-19, the Celebration of Life Service for Mother Lydia Hinson is private and by invitation ONLY. Livestream of this event will available via this website, viewable only 10-15 minutes before the beginning of the service. Only the immediate family will have seating, otherwise this service will be standing room only. For those invited to the service, please use the Mayfield and Kenilworth Rd entrance. The family of Mother Hinson sincerely appreciates every prayer, phone call, text and message of love during their time of bereavement.
Lydia's Journey
Lydia “Honey” Morrison was born on October 14, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia the 4th child out of 10 to Jake and Mary Lou Morrison.
After the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in the 1940’s Lydia attended Cleveland Public schools and then went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service until her early retirement in 1981 due to her disability. Lydia was a devoted member of Starlight Baptist church for over 45 years up until her passing.
Despite Lydia’s disability she enjoyed her life to the fullest. She was an advent roller skater at Zelma George Rec., she loved to bowl, she loved line dancing, she attended water aerobics at Collinwood Rec. and Ernest J. Bohn Rose Center and was regularly seen on the Senior Walk. Lydia also enjoyed traveling with her daughters and grandchildren to places like Disney World, Las Vegas, Chicago, Niagara Falls, Bahamas, Atlanta, Washington, DC and Hocking Hills just to name a few. Lydia loved life and always had a “SMILE” on her face, no matter what obstacles she endured during her life.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Portia Lee Law and siblings; Jake Morrison Jr., Sheron Morrison, Mary Lou Morrison, Betty Jean Morrison and Robert Morrison.
Lydia leaves to continue her legacy her 3 daughters; Lois Laquita Brightharp (Roy), Jessica Yvonne Wade (Brazzie) and Lydia Green (Nathan). 6 grandchildren, Jamal, Paul, Rasheed (Brandy), Daniel (Janell), JaeSean and Marshae, 9 great grandchildren and siblings; Esther Irvin (Earp), Willie L. Morrison Sr. (Mae), Jacqueline Schaffer (Johnny), Rudolph D. Morrison and a host of nieces and nephews.
