Martha Anne Filey, affectionately known as Anne to her family and friends, was called to her eternal rest on November 19, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 20, 1947, in Rome, Georgia, Anne's life was a testament to her loving, spirited, and passionate nature. She was a cherished member of her community in Twinsburg, Ohio, where she passed away, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and dedication.
Anne's journey began as a bright young girl who attended Main High School in her hometown. Her education there laid the foundation for what would become a commendable 35-year career with Sherwin Williams. As a dedicated production associate, Anne's work ethic and commitment to excellence were unparalleled, leaving a lasting impression on her colleagues and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
A dedicated member of the Baptist faith, Anne's faith was the cornerstone of her life. It guided her actions and provided comfort and strength through the trials she faced, including her courageous battle with cancer. Her trust in the Lord was unwavering, and she was a beacon of hope and inspiration to her fellow believers.
Anne's family was the center of her world. She is survived by her loving children: Timothy Thornton(Danielle), LaTisha Coleman(Nathaniel), and her special friend James Stevenson. Her grandchildren, Timothy Thornton Jr, Tevin Thornton and Catrell Simpson(Audya), great grandchildren Kamiya, Kingston, and Uriah will fondly remember Anne's boundless love and the wisdom she imparted. She is survived by her aunts Mary Jones and Minnie Stevens, life-long friend Cleo Harris and a host of of nieces and nephews.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents Mabelle and Erastus, husband Robert Filey, daughter Yvette Filey, brothers William Jackson, TJ Thornton, sisters Ruby Nichols, Mildred Thornton, Rose Moore and Mable Lovelace.
Beyond her family and faith, Anne had a deep appreciation for the simpler pleasures in life. She adored old movies and enjoyed the classic 'I Love Lucy' Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to find joy in everyday moments was a gift to all who knew her.
Anne's journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her motto was “If I can’t help you, I will not hurt you.”
Her love, her passion, and her spirited nature will never be forgotten. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in knowing that she now rests in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior.
May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
