Mary Elizabeth Pearson

Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Pearson was born May 1, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Willie Lee Pearson and the late Mary Pearson. Mary was educated by the Cleveland Public School System, graduating from East Technical High School in 1976. After graduating Mary attended Vocational Guidance Services as well as active participation in a number of programs within the Garden Valley Neighborhood Center.

     Mary was loved by all who crossed her path. She loved her family very much, including the time and special bond she had with her Mom, her relationship with her siblings and her special love for her nieces and nephews. Mary loved to listen to music and loved to dance. She had a very loving and gentle spirit. She was outgoing and knew everyone like the back of her hand. Mary enjoyed many of the simple pleasures of life including drinking her coca-cola soda as well as indulging in her favorite food, “kubasi”. It never took much to make Mary happy, being around family was always good enough and brought her joy, especially during the holidays.

     Mary was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church. She recommitted her life to Christ upon joining Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend, Earl R Brewer.

     Mary fought many battles, and on May 27, 2021 God called Mary home.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two sisters, Evelyn Marie Gaston of Water Valley, MS and Ruby Annette Scott. Two brothers, Willie Lee Pearson, (sister n law) Marie and Cary Cardell Pearson. Mary also had a very close bond with her niece Latreasa “Marcha” Scott who was there for her and cared for her when needed. A special thank you to Nakeisha Thornington Green, a close family friend who was like a niece to Mary as well. She also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
