Melvin L. Osbey
On Friday October 23, 1936 in Anderson, South Carolina, a male child was born to Hosea Osbey and Mary Lou Butler. They named him Melvin L Osbey. Melvin was one of nine children: Hosea Jr., Melvin, Betty Jean, James, Vera (James), Hubert (Clara), Mildred (Sam), Robert and Charles.
Melvin spent most of his time here on earth in Cleveland where he started working at the Cleveland Mop Factory, Euclid school guard and as a Tar roller for Cleveland.
He started his employment at General Motors March 1, 1978. He retired from General Motors after fourteen and a half years of service.
Melvin Osbey was the father of Melvin and Bertina from his first marriage and his second marriage he gained three beautiful children named Walter (Rhonda), Andree’ (Alicia), and Marcie (Terry) and also from his second marriage they had a beautiful baby girl named Melissa.
Melvin was a member of a Church in Anderson, South Carolina. His grandson Joseph however introduced Melvin to the ‘Hebrew’ Faith while living in Cleveland.
Melvin’s hobbies included: fishing, gardening and fixing on his cars. He loved drinking his morning coffee, playing his lottery numbers and gardening. We could never forget to remember Melvin’s love of cars and especially Cadillac’s.
His favorite love however, was being a father and grandfather.
On September 2, 2021 God called Melvin’s name and he answered his call to his eternal rest.
Melvin Osbey leaves to cherish his memory his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Named: Andree’, Aaron, Deshon, Deonte, Richard, Antwan, Chanel, Darcie, Joe (Cerena), Shawnte’ (Cynthia) and Jay’Shauna. His great grandchildren include: Judah, Judas, Judaea, Alaiah, Savannah, John and Sterling.
