Rickey’s Story
In Cleveland, Ohio, under the summer sky so great,
Roderick Leslie White was born in1958.
Known to all as Rick, with a spirit so bright,
He lived and he laughed, bringing joy day and night.
On February 19, in 2025,
Rick left us in peace, his soul took the dive.
From the very same city where his first breath he drew,
In Cleveland, he passed, as the cold winds blew.
Preceded in death by his parents, so dear,
Frederick and Althera White, who once were so near.
His legacy lives on, in his children, Roderick, Danielle, Deonte, Daijah and Dashae a tribe of five,
Two sisters, Yvonne and Yvette, his nieces & nephew
Shanna, Yolanda, Cassie and Antonio and a host of other relatives that will continue to thrive.
Alongside them, Shirley Cooper, his love so true,
Together they cherished moments, not just a few.
His family, his pride, for whom his love never did hide,
Will remember his warmth, with hearts open wide.
A graduate of John Adams High in the class of '76,
Rick's charm and wit would always stick.
In various roles, his career did unfold,
Master of Ceremonies, his tales were gold.
From R&B concerts to fashion show nights,
Rick had a way of soaring entertainment to new heights.
Famous for his funeral poem, spoken with grace,
He touched many hearts, in every single place.
Rick's love for music and the stage was immense,
His passion for entertainment made perfect sense.
Always dressed to the nines, in clothes so fine,
His presence was a gift, truly divine.
"Don’t mess up the rotation," he'd often quip,
A phrase that would make everyone's heart skip.
His sayings, his style, uniquely his own,
In our hearts and our minds, forever sown.
Creative and passionate, with humor to spare,
Rick White lit up the room with his debonair flair.
A man of many talents, a soul so funny,
He made every day seem bright and sunny.
So here's to Rick White, whose life was a song,
A melody of laughter and love, all his life long.
Farewell, dear Rick, your journey's at peace,
Your spirit, your joy, will never cease.
For in every note of music, in every laugh that's shared,
Rick White lives on, forever endeared.
