Sunrise…
Rosa Lee Higgins was born on November 11, 1939, in Forest City, Arkansas to the
late Charlie and Centenial Stacy, Rosa Attended school in Forest City. Rosa met
her late husband Mathew Higgins in Arkansas where they joined in marriage on
December 25, 1956, born from this union was six kids her two boys and four girls.
Sunset…
On December 23, 2024, due to natural causes we lost the Matriarch of our family
with this we are lost for words, she departed this life peacefully with her family by
her side we are sad that she is gone, she will truly be missed, but her work here is
done she received her call and she just couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from
which she would not be returning. This appointment is a reunion with family and
friends that she has not seen in a long time. She would always say (I miss all my
folks) Her mission takes her to a wonderful place where she can walk around,
work in her garden, cook all those good meals and love on all those who left before
her.
A Life Well Lived…
In 1965 Rosa and her late husband decided to make a change and they moved to
Cleveland, Ohio to give birth to their last child and start a new life here with their
six kids. Rosa soon found employment at White Cliff Manor where she served as a
housekeeper than she later she moved on to become a Nursing Assistant working
for the Metro Health System until a back injury forced her into retirement Rosa
enjoyed her job as a NA, she enjoyed the interaction with elderly that’s the kind of
heart she had. Rosa loved spending time with her kids always having big cookouts,
she enjoyed just watching you eat her food because she knew it was just that good
Rosa’s life journey of 85 years brought warmth and joy to those around her. She
parted from this world leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and unforgettable
memories.
Rosa affectionately known as momma or grandma to everyone, was a beacon of
strength and compassion. Her husband, Mathew Higgins Sr, who proceeded her in
death in 2012 was her lifelong companion and confidant for 56 years. Family was
everything to her.
Those who have gone on before & those who remain...
While her heart was heavy with the loss of her husband (2012), her son Robert
(2022) her granddaughter Tacara, (2019), her brother Willie Stacy (2023) and every
sibling she had has passed on through it all she still remained a pillar for her
surviving children, and loved ones Mathew Higgins Jr., Frances Higgins, Ida
Higgins, Charlene Higgins, Centenial Jefferies (Tonya), two son in laws William
Early and John Jefferies Sr, Rosa’s nurturing spirit will also be profoundly missed
by her twenty-six grandchildren, seventy-seven G-grandchildren and twenty-seven
g-great grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy and a host of nieces,
nephews and friends.
Our mother’s journey through life was a testament to the power of love and
strength one person can have in the lives of so many. As we bid her farewell, we
take solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as
the love she shared will forever warm our hearts.
We Love you my Lady, we will see you again, but for now rest well my lady rest
well;
