Shirley Faye Melton- Lane Born February 28, 1962, in Selma, Alabama to Hattie and Eddie Melton. Shirley was the second oldest of 5 children. Shirley attended CMSD schools and graduated from South high School in 1982 with a concentration in cosmetology, where she graduated in 1982.
On December 24, 1987, Shirley married the love of her life James & was together until his death in 2000. Shirley worked in health care for over 30 plus years and was known for saying what was on her mind first and foremost1 She was, definitely a straight shooter and didn’t bite her tongue for nobody!!! She was also caring, giving and loved her Kool Blue’s 100 in a box. Shirley loved having family and friends over to eat, play music, play cards and just have a good time.
Shirley also enjoyed going to bingo or being on a casino trip.
Shirley is survived by her children Juanita, Cherita, Jimil and James. Three grandchildren Antwon, Sariyah and De’Mere. Her sisters and brothers Regina, Lloyd, Margaret, James and Timothy. A host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband James Lane & her parents Hattie and Eddie Melton. Shirley Faye Melton-Lane, 63 of Cleveland Ohio, passed away peacefully December 12,2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley will be remembered for her unconditional love, strength, outspokenness and kindness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew, loved and appreciated her.
