Tommy Harvey Naylor

Tommy H. Naylor was born 4/1/1938 to Lilly Naylor and David Cathy. Sadly, his mother passed away when he was just 6 years old. He was raised by his grandmother and Grandfather; Pearl and Benjamin Naylor.

He lived 88 years marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for family, service, and the simple routines that gave his days meaning. He will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him. Tommy was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and a proud son of the city. He attended Central High School and carried the lessons of his upbringing with him throughout his life. 

Tommy served his country honorably in the Marines, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment to something greater than himself. After his military service, he built a long and steady career as a truck driver for the City of Cleveland, where he worked faithfully until retirement. His work reflected the same dedication he showed in every part of his life, and he took pride in doing his job well.

He was known for being dependable and hardworking, and he carried himself with a quiet dignity that earned the respect of others. In his personal life, Tommy found joy in the familiar comforts of home. He enjoyed watching television and working. His interests may have been simple, but they were part of the rhythm of a life lived with purpose.

Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florine Naylor, as well as his daughter Lynadean Ware, his son Harold Ware, and his granddaughter Lavonia Ware. Their memory remained close to his heart, and he carried their love with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his daughter Fennett Naylor - Taylor and her husband Herbert, his son DeMarlow Ware, 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and a host of cousin’s family and friends. Tommy’s life was one of resilience, loyalty, and quiet grace. He did not seek attention, but he made a lasting impression.
