On Saturday, May 22, 2021, William J. Daniels (affectionately known as Billy), loving husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 73. Billy was born July 13, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio to Bobbie Lee and Robert Daniels. He grew up in Oakwood Village, Ohio, with his 3 brothers Robert, Ralph and Warren and his 3 sisters Nadina, Adrienne and Brenda. Bill attended John Adams and played basketball there. After High school, he then enlisted into the United States Navy.
Bill was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the Navy aboard the USS Newport News Ship, which was docked in the Tonkin Bay. After his tour of duty in the Navy he became an Orderly at the Rogers Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. While there, he met and married his first Wife, Annie Laurie Chaney-Daniels and of that union 3 Sons were born. Upon his return to Cleveland, he began working for the Cleveland Regional Transit Authority after which later he retired.
In 1987, Bill remarried to Cheryl Ann Brandenberg-Daniels who proceeded him in death in March of 2020. From their union along came 3 girls.
Bill was a member of Affinity Missionary Baptist Church since the early days under Pastor McJunkin. He sang in the Adult Choir, the Male Chorus (Men in Black) and worked with the youth department assisting with the drill team and praise dance team.
Bill enjoyed going fishing, listening to music as he called it “oldie but goodies”, signing and crossword puzzles. If he wasn’t running errands for his wife Cheryl, he was running behind and after the kids. He enjoyed going to all of the sporting event and being that sports dad and granddad. He had the greatest sense of humor and if you weren’t paying attention you’d miss. Bill loved telling jokes and kept us smiling.
William Is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Ann Brandenberg-Daniels. Also his first wife Annie Laurie Chaney-Daniels, his sister Brenda Bowden-Daniels and brother Robert Daniels. He is survived by his children, Jewel (Tyrone) Sullivan, Angel (Ryan) Poindexter, Sedrick Daniels, Damion (Nichelle) Daniels and Williams J. Daniels Jr., Additionally Shawna Storms and Eric Hill, 25 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. Additionally, he leaves to mourn his passing, his Sisters Adrienne (George) Jackson, Nadina (Irak) Lauderdale and his brothers, Ralph (Ren) Daniels & Warren (Maria) Daniels.
William’s laughter and love will be missed by all of his family, friends and Fishing buddies as he was truly a delightful person to be around.
